Friends Author Series: Michael K. Ward

After living and working in Death Valley for both the Fred Harvey Company and the National Park Service from 1977 through 1991, Michael K. Ward moved to Tucson where he has worked as a field technician at Saguaro National Park since 1992. His book, a biography titled “Ghost Riders in the Sky: The Life of Stan Jones the Singing Ranger,” was published in 2014. Jones composed the famous western ballad “Ghost Riders In The Sky” and more than 200 other songs after retiring from the Park Service.
